Not Your Average Smokie

Ingredients

1 package Grimm’s Smokies

1 yellow onion

2 bell peppers

3 tbsp olive oil

1/4 Worcestershire sauce

1 cup grated mozza cheese

steak spice (to taste)

Directions:

  1. Prep the Ingredients:

    • Slice the smokies on a diagonal into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large bowl.

    • Thinly slice 1 medium-to-large yellow onion and 2 bell peppers (any colour). Add them to the bowl.

  2. Season:

    • Drizzle with olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, and a generous sprinkle of steak spice.

    • Toss everything together until well-coated.

  3. Cook the Mixture:

    • Heat a flat top grill or large frying pan over medium-high heat.

    • Add the smokie and veggie mixture to the hot surface.

    • Cook, stirring occasionally, until the smokies are browned and the onions and peppers have softened slightly (but still have a bit of crunch).

  4. Toast the Buns:

    • While the mixture is cooking, place hoagie buns face-down on the grill or pan to toast.

    • For extra flavour, spread garlic butter on the cut side before toasting (optional but not needed!).

  5. Assemble & Serve:

    • Fill each toasted bun with the hot smokie mixture.

    • Top with freshly grated mozzarella cheese.

    • Serve warm and enjoy!
